Killybegs – Glengash Loop
Route Rating ➤ Challenging
Distance ➤ 70 km
Climbing ➤ 1,148 meters
The magic of this route starts at the 7km mark with a turn out the coast road. It’s a very special part of the country, made even better by what we call Donegal’s rollercoaster – a series of short, sharp climbs and descents bordered by sweeping views of the ocean. Keep a steady pace and enjoy it.
Tí Linn is a good spot for coffee or lunch, after which you can cycle up to Slieve League’s viewing area (a challenging ride, not for the faint-hearted) or you can take a shuttle bus up for a few euro and save your legs for the 49km spin home!
After Slieve League, keep heading west along wide open roads with very little traffic in the direction of Glencolmcille or Gleann Cholm Cille and onwards to the Glengash Pass.
This route is one that just keeps giving and the Glengash Pass is the highlight of the day. Catch it in good weather and this is a spin that will stay with you for years.
A true hidden gem.
